Artspace 304
EXHIBIT EXTENDED THROUGH FRIDAY

Mini-Monumentals, by southern Illinois sculptor Dan Johnson. Johnson exhibits a collection of sculptures made of clay, concrete, granite, and steel that capture an aura and sense of grandeur. Although these objects would comfortably fit into a home or garden, their sense of scale is amplified by their mass, and their interpreted and imagined monumental presence. Simple design and a sense of humor guide Johnson’s process of making, allowing deep communication with nature and the materials used to create.

Artspace 304 located at 304 W Walnut St, downtown Carbondale.

Mini-Monumentals by Dan Johnson
Corridor Gallery in the Carbondale Civic Center

Through January 31

Mini-Monumental by local sculptor Dan Johnson is now on view at the Corridor Gallery in the Carbondale Civic Center. This group of artworks is a small sample from a project completed over the year of 1997.  Johnson completed one piece of art every day for a year (a mini monumental). The work on display shows diversity in ideas, process, and media. The works in this series include drawings, paintings, sculpture, clay work, glass work, sand sculptures, and collage. This work is presented in companion to the exhibit at Artspace 304 through January 15.

The Corridor Gallery in the Carbondale Civic Center is free and open to the public and is located at 200 S Illinois Ave. The exhibit is available for viewing Monday - Friday8 AM - 5 PM and during all public events.
