Join us for a week of arts and crafts at CCA!

Art Camp at Carbondale Community Arts is a week long youth day camp designed to promote creative art making through the exploration of a variety of material, art processes, and group collaboration. Each age group will learn, create, and discuss the art created throughout the week at Artspace 304.

Instructor, CCA Program Coordinator, Artist, and Art Educator, Stephanie Dukat. Stephanie has taught many adult and childerns workshops in the southern Illinois area.

Please register a week in advance to ensure the necessary supplies are ordered and available!
Session One: Grades 1 - 3
Art Experiments
Taking a scientific approach to art makingwe will experiment and create with different art materials ranging from paint, clay, paper, and found objects. 
Session Two: Grades 4 - 6
July 10 - 14, 9am - 12pm
 Paper & Print Fantastic
A week of printmaking exploring multiple, techniques and instruction on how to make paper. We’ll create mono-prints, sun prints, screenprint on fabric and  our very own handmade paper!
Please register a week in advance! Deadline - Monday, July 3 by 5PM. 
Session Three: Grades 7 - 12
July 31 - Aug 4, 9am - 12pm
Paper & Mixed Media Installations
We will design and build large scale sculptures and create group installations. Using found objects, paper, tape, and glue. Installing work and creating a gallery exhibit in Artspace 304.

In celebration of the rich talent in southern Illinois, Carbondale Community Arts invites southern Illinois artists and craftspeople to submit a work of art to LOCALITY. On view from July 5 - September 1 at Artspace 304, this salon-style exhibition will highlight our region’s artists and craftspeople of all ages, showcasing the diversity of style, technique, media, and concept. This exhibition will give eclipse visitors the opportunity to experience southern Illinois visual arts in totality.



Locality is open to all artists and craftspeople of southern Illinois and is open to all ages.



Submissions are limited to one work per artist. Maximum size of the work is 30” X 48” for 2D work and no larger than 36” in any direction for 3D work. All work must be ready for hanging or display. Time based media will be included on a first come basis. Work will be installed as appropriate and included with other media artists. Films are welcome, a 20-minute time slots will be assigned on select days throughout the run of the exhibition. Artist may sell work on display for a standard commission of (70 artist/30 gallery). Work submitted to CCA office at Artspace 304 must include completed entry form and loan agreement. Entry forms can be submitted online or in person. Visit for an online form. June 21- Drop off work at CCA Artspace 304, 4 - 8PM. 

June 22- 23 - Drop off work at CCA Artspace 304, 11AM - 5PM.

June 28- 30 - Drop off work at CCA Artspace 304, 11AM - 5PM.

July 5 - Exhibition open to the public. Wednesday - Friday, 11AM- 2PM. 

August 4 - Public Reception, 5PM- 7PM.

September 1- Exhibition closes. 

September 15- Work must be picked up by 5PM on September 15th.

CCA Artspace 304 is located at 304 W Walnut St, downtown Carbondale. Gallery hours are Wednesday - Friday 11AM- 2PM and during all public events.

Carbondale Community Arts is accepting exhibition proposals for 2017 - 2018.  To apply to exhibit at Artspace 304, Mary Ellen Dillard Media & Performance Gallery, or the Corridor Gallery at the Carbondale Civic Center, please complete an online proposal. The proposal requires: 

  • Contact information 
  • CV or related experience
  • Artist/ Group statement (approx. 300 words) 
  • Exhibition theme, intent, need of space. (approx. 300 words) 
  • Five images that reflect the style of work you wish to exhibit. Images formated JPEG or PDF and labeled with first and last name and image number.
    • Label example: FIRST_LASTNAME_IMAGE01.JPEG
  • Image List with description of images. Please include image file name, artist name, title of work, date created, size (L"x W"x H"), Media, Price of Work.
